I've seen a few fan-art pictures online that depicted the cast from 'The Lion King' as humans, and, in some cases, they were humans dressed in African garb, which was rather appropriate, given the film's setting. I guess this all stems from me wondering what the ThunderCats would look like as humans. Kaynar is a Jackal, but, what type of Jackal? Golden, Black-backed, Side-Striped? Slithe is a Lizard but what kind of lizard?Īddicus is a monkey, but what kind of monkey? (I would assume one of the type that doesn't have tails though) This same issue can also be raised in regards to some of the other animals shown in the series. The Wily Twins have described as Wild Cats, but what kind of Wild cats? Typically, 'wild cat' is used to describe none domesticated felines.

Panthro is a Panther, but which type? Panthers are just leopards and jaguars with melanistic coloring, so, which is Panthro, a leopard or jaguar? Tygra is a Tiger, but what kind of Tiger? Bengal, Burmese, Siberian? Lion-O is established to be a Lion, but what type of Lion? The kind you'd find in Africa or the ones you'd find in Europe or Asia? Just don’t nitpick it, just jump into the whole thing.This is just something that came to me today, i know that the TCats' species are made clear by their names, but what type of those particular species are they? If you like records that offer a complete experience then this one for you.

The interludes make the whole thing pretty interesting due to how they offer social commentary. The artistic envelope is regularly being pushed as well with the songs touching upon all sorts of characteristics, styles and genres. Vortex is an album where the music is consistently being pushed in numerous directions.

Other notable highlights include “Terence’s - Love”, “Dragon” and “Sanity Envy” but I suggest listening from start to finish for the full array of sonic dimensions. It’s probably my favorite song off of the album. Those synthy keys at the beginning of “The Merchant Of Flatbush” are really cool and it’s a completely excellent musical journey. That singer- songwriter element is best exemplified in “I Miss Things I Never Had” with the acoustic guitar anchoring the track. “Stay” starts off with one of those interludes with the narrator starting the song off about romantic relationships and then it goes into atmospheric & dramatic vocals. It leaves a lasting impression by offering so much in condensed fashion, including theatrical interludes. Overall, the album is a testament to Nance’s creativity that seems to know no bounds. There’s a nice balance as well with nothing sticking out unusually, which is a credit to the arrangements. This combination rides a flow where everything meshes together in interesting ways, it conveys a listening experience rather than just being a collection of songs. There’s a mix of R&B, jazz, pop, orchestral and even singer-songwriter folk that’s present. His debut album Vortex came out on August 19 and the sonic scope within the music of it is stunning.
